The Pakistani rupee (PKR) extended its winning streak against the US dollar for the 222nd consecutive trading day on Wednesday.

The rupee closed at 277.60 per dollar, gaining around one paisa during the session. The PKR has remained on a sustained upward trend against the dollar since December 25, 2025.

Other Major Currencies

The rupee remained broadly stable against the UAE dirham and Saudi riyal.

The British pound, however, strengthened by around 79 paisas, while the euro gained approximately 78 paisas against the rupee.

The PKR also gained 59 paisas against the Australian dollar and 5 paisas against the Canadian dollar.

Against the Malaysian ringgit, the rupee gained around 10 paisas, while it weakened by nearly 3 paisas against the Chinese yuan.

The continued strength of the rupee against the dollar keeps the currency on track for another consecutive monthly stretch of gains, although movements against other major currencies remain mixed.
