Pakistan is moving toward a China inspired policing model with plans to establish a pilot Law Enforcement Investigation Centre in Islamabad aimed at modernizing investigations and speeding up the criminal justice process.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the initiative on Thursday during a meeting with Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) who recently completed specialized training programs in China and Türkiye.

Naqvi said international training programs for police officers will become a permanent part of professional development, allowing Pakistani law enforcement personnel to adopt modern policing techniques and global best practices.

The proposed Law Enforcement Investigation Centre will bring detention, investigation, and summary trial procedures under one roof. The government expects the model to improve efficiency by reducing delays in minor criminal cases and accelerating case resolution.

As part of a broader police modernization drive, the Ministry of Interior is also planning to expand the use of advanced surveillance technology and crime prevention tools.

Under the plan, the Ministry’s Aviation Wing will be equipped with modern drones to strengthen aerial surveillance and support field operations.

The government will also establish specialized investigation rooms at the National Police Academy and update police training programs to include modern investigative techniques aligned with international standards.

Naqvi further announced that a redesigned police uniform tailored to operational requirements will be introduced as part of the reform initiative.

The planned measures are aimed at transforming Pakistan’s law enforcement system through technology adoption, improved officer training, and faster disposal of cases.
