The federal government is set to launch Vision Pakistan 2047 on International Youth Day, August 12, 2026, with ministries being asked to submit their long-term development priorities ahead of the unveiling.

According to sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to present the national vision document, which aims to define Pakistan’s development goals and strategic direction leading up to 2047.

The preparation process, however, has drawn attention due to the limited timeline available for compiling a roadmap covering the next two decades. The Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) has instructed federal ministries, divisions, attached departments, autonomous organizations, and subordinate offices to provide their proposed goals, commitments, and priority areas for inclusion in the document.

The ministries have been asked to outline their contributions toward key areas such as economic growth, human capital development, technology advancement, environmental sustainability, governance reforms, and sector-specific transformation.

The proposed vision document is expected to focus on empowering Pakistan’s youth and positioning them as a central force behind future economic progress, innovation, and national development.

The PMYP has requested ministries to submit their inputs for timely compilation and review before presentation to the Prime Minister.

While the government aims to establish a long-term national development framework through Vision Pakistan 2047, questions remain over whether a comprehensive 21-year strategy can be effectively developed within a short preparation period without extensive consultation, research, and sector-wise planning.
