The Punjab Food Authority sealed a KFC outlet at the Sukheki Motorway Service Area after a surprise inspection uncovered multiple food safety and hygiene violations, officials said.

The raid was conducted as part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s “Safe Food” initiative, which has ramped up inspections of restaurants and food outlets across the province.

According to the PFA, inspectors found the outlet using substandard food items, unfiltered water, and storing food in unhygienic conditions. The inspection also revealed breaches of prescribed food quality and safety standards.

The authority immediately sealed the restaurant and imposed a hefty fine. The outlet will remain shut until it fully complies with PFA regulations and secures clearance from inspectors.

The PFA reiterated that ensuring safe and hygienic food for the public remains its top priority and warned food businesses to strictly adhere to health and safety standards or face legal action.
