The Prime Minister’s Office has initiated a detailed performance assessment of federal ministries and divisions to evaluate their progress, administrative efficiency, and delivery of assigned responsibilities since February 2024.

The review covers 18 ministries dealing with economic and infrastructure matters, 14 ministries responsible for regulatory and supervisory functions, and nine divisions working in social and cultural sectors.

A standardized reporting framework has been issued to all concerned departments, requiring them to submit details of their performance, reforms, completed tasks, and institutional improvements.

The evaluation is focused on measuring how effectively ministries have implemented government directives, achieved targets, and carried out their assigned mandates. Key ministries, including the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives and the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, are part of the assessment.

Under the new mechanism, ministries must provide updates on assigned projects, completion timelines, pending issues, and reasons behind any delays. They have also been asked to explain challenges affecting implementation and the steps taken to resolve them.

The reporting template requires departments to highlight administrative reforms, cost-saving measures, digital transformation efforts, improved governance practices, and human resource initiatives.

Ministries will also submit records of ongoing and completed development schemes, including project progress, completion dates, outcomes, and utilization of allocated funds.

The PM Office has directed ministries to align their performance reports with their official responsibilities under the Rules of Business, 1973. All claims of achievements must be backed by supporting documents, with incomplete or vague submissions subject to rejection.
