Pakistan has invited Meta to expand its collaboration on artificial intelligence (AI), digital skills, and small business development as the government steps up efforts to accelerate the country’s digital economy.
The invitation was extended during a meeting between Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and a Meta delegation led by Asia-Pacific Public Policy representative Tehara Punchihewa and Policy Programs Manager Vivian Liang.
During the meeting, Meta unveiled its Small Business Growth Academy, a new initiative that will provide free digital training to 1,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Pakistan from August to November 2026. The program will be delivered in partnership with local edtech firm AtomCamp.
Participating businesses will receive training on Meta’s digital platforms, AI-powered business tools, online marketing, and strategies to grow their operations through digital channels.
The initiative also aims to improve digital adoption among businesses in smaller cities while supporting women entrepreneurs through a mix of online and in-person training.
Jam Kamal said digital transformation remains a key government priority and revealed that Pakistan is finalizing a new E-Commerce Policy alongside a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence Policy to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven economic growth.
The minister also invited Meta to collaborate with the Directorate General of Trade Organizations, chambers of commerce, and trade bodies to expand the program’s reach. He noted that Pakistan has already partnered with global technology companies such as Google and Alibaba, adding that deeper engagement with Meta would further strengthen the country’s digital ecosystem.
