The Pakistani rupee (PKR) strengthened against the US dollar for the 200th consecutive trading day on Friday, extending one of its longest sustained winning streaks in recent history.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the rupee closed at Rs. 277.9612 per US dollar, gaining one paisa from Thursday’s close of Rs. 277.9732. The local currency has appreciated consistently against the dollar since December 25, 2025.

Among other major currencies, the rupee gained one paisa against the UAE dirham (AED) and remained virtually unchanged against the Saudi riyal (SAR).

However, it weakened against several other currencies, losing Rs. 1.95 against the British pound (GBP) and 69 paisas against the euro (EUR). The rupee also declined 14 paisas against the Canadian dollar (CAD).

On the other hand, it appreciated 52 paisas against the Australian dollar (AUD), 18 paisas against the Malaysian ringgit (MYR) and 6 paisas against the Chinese yuan (CNY).

The rupee’s continued stability against the US dollar comes amid relatively steady foreign exchange market conditions, although movements against other major currencies largely reflected fluctuations in global currency markets.
