U.S. Vice President JD Vance has alleged that Israel spent significant resources attempting to derail U.S. negotiations with Iran, accusing parts of the Israeli establishment of running a campaign to discredit officials working toward a diplomatic settlement.
During an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Vance said Israel invested “enormous sums of money” to weaken the negotiations. He recalled seeing what he described as a foreign-funded influence campaign featured in Time magazine that was aimed at undermining the agreement his team was pursuing.
Vance also claimed that some Israeli leaders favored extending the conflict with Iran instead of reaching a negotiated settlement, while the United States sought to end the fighting through diplomacy.
The remarks represent one of the strongest public criticisms of the Israeli government by a senior U.S. official and come after Pakistan hosted U.S.-Iran talks in Islamabad as part of efforts to broker an end to the conflict.
