The Lahore High Court (LHC) has launched a subsidized vehicle purchase scheme under which nearly 2,000 judicial officers across Punjab will be allowed to buy their officially allotted government vehicles at concessional prices.
Under the initiative, District and Sessions Judges, Additional District and Sessions Judges, Senior Civil Judges, Civil Judges and Family Judges can purchase their allotted Suzuki Alto, Toyota Corolla and Honda City vehicles for between Rs250,000 and Rs350,000.
The scheme also applies to judges serving in Anti-Terrorism, Accountability, Banking, FIA Special, Anti-Narcotics, Customs and Labour Courts. Judicial officers from the Punjab judiciary currently on deputation to the Islamabad High Court, Supreme Court of Pakistan, Constitutional Court, and the federal and provincial law ministries are also eligible.
The LHC has instructed eligible officers to submit pay orders in favor of the Registrar by July 22. Once the payment process is completed, ownership of the official vehicles will be transferred to the respective officers.
The scheme is being implemented under a circular issued by the Directorate of District Judiciary on July 11.
