U.S. President Donald Trump shared a startling account of Senator Lindsey Graham’s death, saying doctors discovered that part of the senator’s body had “literally blew up” when they examined him after he died.
Speaking during an interview with RT, Trump recalled that Graham had once been concerned about a different medical issue, believing it posed a serious threat to his life. However, Trump said the condition Graham feared was not what ultimately caused his death.
According to Trump, doctors determined after examining Graham’s body that a catastrophic rupture inside his body was responsible for his death.
“A part of Lindsey’s body literally blew up,” Trump said, describing the findings. He added that the actual cause of death came as a surprise because it was unrelated to the illness Graham had previously worried about.
Trump also described Graham’s death as difficult to process and reflected on conversations they had shared before the senator’s passing.
Background
Lindsey Graham, the longtime Republican senator from South Carolina and a close political ally of President Trump, died at the age of 71 following a sudden medical emergency.
Medical examiners later concluded that Graham died from an acute aortic dissection—a tear in the inner wall of the aorta, the body’s largest artery. The tear caused the vessel to rupture, leading to fatal internal bleeding. Authorities said the condition was associated with underlying cardiovascular disease, and investigators found no evidence of foul play. Final laboratory testing is expected to complete the medical examination.
