The Iranian Embassy in India has strongly rejected claims made by Indian military analyst Maj (Ret.) Gaurav Arya regarding the funeral of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, accusing him of spreading fake news and propaganda.
In a statement posted on X, the embassy said the funeral and burial ceremonies were held with “order, dignity, security, and tranquility” across five cities in two countries.
According to the embassy, more than 40 million people attended the ceremonies, which concluded without a single reported incident.
The embassy said attempts to question the scale and conduct of the funeral were part of a disinformation campaign aimed at diverting attention from what it described as an unprecedented display of national unity.
It added that critics were resorting to “fake news and fabricated narratives” because they could not accept the scale of public participation.
The statement urged critics to “open your eyes” and recognize what it called the strength and resilience of Iran and its people instead of believing “illusions and propaganda.”
The response came after Maj (Ret.) Gaurav Arya made social media posts questioning the official narrative surrounding Khamenei’s funeral. Iran did not address each specific claim individually but dismissed them as false and misleading.
