The wait for one of the most anticipated video games of all time has reached another major milestone, with Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) now officially 20 Thursdays away from its global release.
Rockstar Games has confirmed that GTA 6 will launch on Thursday, November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. As of today, only 20 Thursdays remain until players can finally get their hands on the long-awaited sequel.
GTA 6 has been more than a decade in the making. The game arrives over 13 years after the release of Grand Theft Auto V, which remains one of the best-selling video games in history. Rockstar delayed GTA 6 twice, first from its original 2025 release window and later from May 2026, saying it needed more time to deliver the level of quality fans expect.
The upcoming title takes players back to Vice City, set within the fictional state of Leonida, and follows dual protagonists Jason and Lucia. Rockstar’s trailers have already generated hundreds of millions of views, while industry analysts expect GTA 6 to become one of the biggest entertainment launches ever.
In recent weeks, Rockstar also opened pre-orders for the game, further fueling excitement among fans. The launch edition is currently confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, while a PC version has also been confirmed but has yet to receive a release date.
The game’s release is expected to have a ripple effect across the gaming industry, with several publishers reportedly avoiding November launches to steer clear of competing with Rockstar’s blockbuster title. Demand for current-generation consoles is also expected to surge as the release date approaches.
