The Pakistani rupee (PKR) continued its upward momentum against the US dollar (USD) on Thursday, posting gains for the 189th consecutive trading day.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the rupee closed at Rs. 278.1537 against the dollar, improving by one paisa from the previous close of Rs. 278.1614.
The local currency has remained on a consistent winning streak against the greenback since December 25, 2025.
In the regional market, the rupee remained almost unchanged against the UAE Dirham (AED), gaining a marginal 0.21 paisa, while it weakened by 1.38 paisas against the Saudi Riyal (SAR).
Among major global currencies, the rupee posted notable losses. It depreciated by Rs. 3.33 against the British Pound (GBP) to close at Rs. 371.3491 and lost 61.72 paisas against the Euro (EUR), which settled at Rs. 317.5403.
The rupee also weakened against other currencies, falling 56.50 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD) to Rs. 191.9261 and 50.41 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD) to Rs. 195.9588.
Meanwhile, it slipped 0.65 paisa against the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) but gained 0.66 paisa against the Chinese Yuan (CNY).
