Lucky Cement Limited has increased its annual cement production capacity by around 300,000 tons after completing a process optimization and capacity enhancement project at its Karachi manufacturing facility.
In a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday, the company said the upgrade has raised the Karachi plant’s annual production capacity from 5.05 million tons to 5.35 million tons. With the completion of the project, Lucky Cement’s total annual production capacity has increased to 15.6 million tons, reinforcing its position as Pakistan’s largest cement producer.
The company said the additional capacity was achieved by modernizing and optimizing its existing production lines, without installing a new cement line.
In addition to higher output, the project is expected to improve operational efficiency by lowering fuel consumption and reducing coal usage per ton of cement produced. These improvements are also expected to cut the plant’s carbon emissions intensity and enhance overall resource efficiency.
Lucky Cement said the initiative forms part of its long-term strategy to improve manufacturing performance, deliver greater value to shareholders, and support Pakistan’s industrial growth while advancing its sustainability objectives.
