The government has proposed an allocation of Rs16.29 billion for ongoing projects under the Information Technology and Telecommunication Division in the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the fiscal year 2026-27.
The funding is aimed at supporting key digital infrastructure, innovation, and technology development initiatives already underway across the country.
A major portion has been allocated to the Technology Park Development Project in Islamabad, which will receive Rs6.81 billion in the next fiscal year. The project is among the government’s flagship initiatives to build a modern ecosystem for technology companies and startups.
The Digital Economy Enhancement Project, supported by the World Bank, has been allocated Rs3.02 billion, while the IT Park project in Karachi has been granted Rs3.75 billion. Both projects are expected to strengthen Pakistan’s digital economy and create new opportunities for the technology sector.
Additional allocations include Rs1 billion for the revamping of the IT industry, Rs524.64 million for the National Artificial Intelligence Advancement Initiative, Rs330 million for cyber security under the Digital Pakistan framework, and Rs250 million for the National Semiconductor Human Resource Development Program.
Further funding has also been proposed for the Smart Islamabad initiative, expansion of cellular connectivity in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, and various compliance and export enhancement programs.
In total, the projects carry an estimated cost of Rs79.79 billion, with Rs16.29 billion proposed for allocation in FY2026-27.
