Electricity consumers across Pakistan are set to receive relief after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved a reduction of Rs. 1.99 per unit in power tariffs under the quarterly tariff adjustment mechanism.
According to NEPRA’s notification, the reduction relates to the quarterly adjustment for the January–March 2026 period and will remain in effect for three months, from June to August 2026.
The tariff relief will apply nationwide, including consumers served by K-Electric. NEPRA estimates that the adjustment will provide total consumer relief of approximately Rs. 67.17 billion during the implementation period.
The reduction stems from the regulator’s quarterly review process, which reconciles actual power sector costs against previously approved tariffs. Any over- or under-recoveries are subsequently passed on to consumers through tariff adjustments.
As a result, millions of electricity consumers are expected to see lower power bills over the next three months.
