Gold prices edged higher in Pakistan on Thursday, recovering a portion of the sharp losses recorded in the previous session as international bullion markets posted a modest gain.

Data released by the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association showed that the price of gold increased by Rs. 1,523 per tola, taking the rate to Rs. 469,285.

The price of 10 grams of gold also moved up by Rs. 1,305 during the day, reflecting the upward trend in global markets.

The recovery follows Wednesday’s steep decline, when gold prices in the local market dropped by Rs. 8,600 per tola to close at Rs. 467,762.

Internationally, gold gained $14 per ounce, with prices settling at $4,468, providing support to domestic rates.

Meanwhile, silver continued its downward trajectory. The price of silver fell by Rs. 97 per tola on Thursday, bringing the rate down to Rs. 7,797 per tola.
