Seven people, including six tourists and a driver, went missing on Monday after a jeep traveling toward Fairy Meadows plunged into a deep ravine in Diamer district and was swept away by water flow in Tattu Nullah.
According to the Gilgit-Baltistan police spokesperson, the accident occurred around 3pm along the Tattu Raikot Road when the vehicle lost control and fell into the gorge.
Officials confirmed that the jeep was carrying tourists from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, while the driver was a resident of the Dareel area in Diamer.
Rescue teams and police personnel immediately reached the site and launched a search operation; however, all occupants remain untraced so far.
Authorities said difficult terrain, strong water currents, and poor visibility are hampering rescue efforts.
Road accidents are frequent in northern Pakistan’s mountainous regions, where narrow roads, sharp turns, and weak infrastructure continue to pose serious risks to travelers.
In a similar recent incident last month, four people were killed in Neelum Valley when a jeep fell into a rocky streambed. Earlier incidents in Upper Chitral and on the Hazara Motorway also claimed multiple lives, highlighting ongoing road safety concerns in tourist routes.
