Thai police have gone viral after carrying out an unusual undercover operation in eastern Thailand, where male officers reportedly posed as a female dance troupe to arrest a suspected drug dealer.

According to RT International, the operation took place in Tha Luang, where officers disguised themselves in glittering costumes during a public street event to avoid detection and approach the suspect without raising suspicion.

Police identified the target as Mekha Fa-wap-wap, who was later arrested on drug-related charges. Authorities recovered 53 methamphetamine tablets, more than 200 small plastic bags commonly used for distribution, and a mobile phone during the arrest.

Officials said the suspect was believed to be involved in illegal drug activity and operating within the area. The disguise was used as a tactical move to blend into the festive crowd and carry out the arrest discreetly.

Photos of the officers in costume standing with the handcuffed suspect quickly spread online, drawing widespread attention and humorous comparisons to the film 21 Jump Street.

The report added that Thai police have previously used similarly unconventional disguises in operations, including posing as festival performers and lion dancers during public celebrations to track down suspects.
