The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices for May 2026, citing higher import costs of cargo shipments.

According to an official notification, the revised rates reflect the impact of four imported LNG cargoes during the month, which pushed overall landed costs upward. The adjustment applies to both Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) systems.

For consumers connected to the SSGC network, LNG prices have been increased by US$3.51 per MMBtu, bringing the new rate to US$16.04 per MMBtu.

For SNGPL consumers, the price has gone up by US$3.43 per MMBtu, raising the notified rate to US$16.98 per MMBtu.

Pakistan continues to rely heavily on imported LNG to bridge the gap between domestic gas production and demand, especially during peak consumption periods. As a result, fluctuations in global LNG prices directly affect local energy costs, including electricity generation expenses, industrial input costs, and the country’s overall import bill.
