The federal government has approved the export of donkey meat and hides from the Gwadar Donkey Slaughter House as part of a regulated disposal plan for existing stock.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, which reviewed a summary submitted by the Ministry of National Food Security and Research. The committee granted approval for exporting the available inventory in accordance with established export regulations and health protocols.

Officials said the move is aimed at managing accumulated stock while ensuring that exports comply with international standards and legal requirements. The approval allows authorities to proceed with shipments under supervised procedures designed to maintain quality control and traceability.

The proposal forms part of broader efforts to formalize livestock by-product exports and explore niche international markets where such products are in demand.

The ECC meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, also discussed several economic and administrative matters, with the donkey export decision included among routine agenda items cleared by the committee.
