US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to implement a 10-day ceasefire following his recent conversations with both countries’ leaders.
In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump said he held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, after which the two sides agreed to halt fighting beginning at 5:00 pm ET.
He noted that delegations from the two countries had recently met in Washington for the first time in decades, in discussions attended by US officials including Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Trump added that he has directed Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Rubio, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan “Razin” Caine to continue coordinating efforts with Israel and Lebanon to push toward a more permanent peace arrangement.
He also claimed the development adds to his broader diplomatic record, saying he now considers it the “10th conflict” he has helped bring to an end.
