Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has commenced production from the Baragzai X-1 (Slant) well located in the Nashpa Exploration License area in District Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, converting a recent discovery into active hydrocarbon output.

The well, discovered earlier this year in the Lockhart Limestone formation, is currently producing approximately 5,300 barrels of oil per day, 17 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, along with 15 metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), indicating strong reservoir performance.

To transport production, OGDCL has installed an 8-inch flowline extending about 8.1 kilometers, linking the Baragzai X-1 well to the Mela processing facility. The hydrocarbons are being processed at the Nashpa Plant, while treated gas has started flowing into the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) transmission system.

OGDCL operates the Nashpa Exploration License with a 56.45 percent working interest. The project’s joint venture partners include Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) holding 26.05 percent and Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) with a 17.50 percent share.

Under the next phase of development, the company plans to drill two appraisal wells to further evaluate the reservoir and determine the field’s full production potential. The results will guide a comprehensive development plan aimed at maximizing long-term output.
