Progress has been made in efforts to revive and expand the Pakistan Steel Mills, with new details emerging about enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and Russia, including the signing of a third protocol agreement between the two sides.

According to official sources, a Russian private consortium and the management of Pakistan Steel Mills have signed the latest protocol, marking another step in the broader revival framework aimed at restoring operations and improving efficiency.

Officials from the Ministry of Industries and Production said the Russian side will support the project through a phased rehabilitation plan, focusing on upgrading infrastructure and increasing output capacity over time.

The plan envisions raising the steel mill’s annual production capacity to around 3 million tons. Authorities believe the revival of the facility could significantly stimulate industrial growth and related economic activity in Pakistan.

Under the agreement, the Russian partner will also provide both technical assistance and financial cooperation to help modernize and restart operations at one of the country’s largest industrial complexes.
