Qatar has cautioned that the ongoing war in the Middle East is approaching a point beyond control, following a US ultimatum demanding that Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The Gulf nation highlighted that escalating tensions could threaten regional stability, including food, water, and environmental security. Qatar stressed the urgency for all parties to seek a resolution and prevent further deterioration.

Recent weeks have seen Iran launch drone and missile attacks on Gulf countries in retaliation to US and Israeli strikes that began in late February. These assaults have targeted hydrocarbon infrastructure and disrupted operations in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route through which around one-fifth of global oil supplies pass.

Qatar emphasized the serious risks posed by the ongoing hostilities and expressed hope that diplomatic efforts can pull the region back from the brink, though concerns remain high as the situation evolves.
