The federal government has determined the mechanism for its long-awaited fuel subsidy, aiming to ease the financial burden on commuters and transport operators amid record-high petrol prices. For now, only motorcycle owners will receive the benefit, while the process for trucks and buses is still under development, sources told RBN today.
According to sources, the subsidy will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of registered vehicle owners via digital wallets. Only vehicles registered in the owner’s name will be eligible, ensuring targeted relief reaches those who need it most.
Subsidy Details:
- Motorcycles: Rs. 100 per litre petrol subsidy.
- Trucks: Rs. 70,000 per month for standard trucks; Rs. 80,000 for heavy vehicles (mechanism pending).
- Buses: Rs. 100,000 per month (procedure being finalized).
- Small Farmers: Rs. 1,500 per acre in agricultural fuel support.
Officials said the step is part of a broader initiative to provide immediate financial relief for daily commuters, commercial transport operators, and small farmers grappling with rising fuel costs.
