US President Donald Trump said the United States is making progress in negotiations with Iran while simultaneously conducting military strikes against targets linked to the country, highlighting the complex state of relations between Washington and Tehran.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump described the ongoing talks as productive, saying discussions had yielded developments he believed should have been agreed upon earlier. He characterized the negotiations as advancing smoothly but cautioned that outcomes remain uncertain.

The president also said US naval and air forces carried out operations during the day that resulted in the destruction of several additional targets. He referred to the strikes as a major operational effort involving multiple branches of the military.

According to Trump, communication with Iran is continuing through both direct and indirect channels. He further claimed Iran had permitted a number of oil tankers to transit the Strait of Hormuz, describing the development as a positive signal during negotiations.

Trump’s remarks underscored the dual-track approach currently defining US policy toward Iran, combining diplomatic engagement with ongoing military pressure amid heightened tensions in the region.
