The investigation into an alleged money laundering case involving dermatologist Dr. Fazeela Abbasi has broadened, with investigators now reviewing financial transactions connected to close family members and overseas fund transfers.

According to officials familiar with the inquiry, authorities are examining suspicious banking activity linked to relatives, including transactions reportedly conducted through a joint bank account. Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi, the suspect’s brother, has also been mentioned in connection with financial records currently under scrutiny.

Investigators claim that large sums denominated in US dollars and UAE dirhams were transferred abroad over several years. Officials noted that these transactions were allegedly not flagged by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) at the time they occurred.

Preliminary findings suggest that only three bank accounts were declared in tax filings, while additional financial activity appeared inconsistent with the income reported to tax authorities. Investigators say discrepancies were observed even within the declared accounts.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has also questioned documentation submitted to explain the source of funds. Authorities described the explanations as unsatisfactory, citing receipts totaling approximately $200,000 issued in the names of a driver and several acquaintances. These transactions were allegedly absent from official tax disclosures.

Officials further highlighted a significant mismatch between declared earnings and recorded financial movements, prompting continued examination of banking records and related individuals.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no final determination has yet been announced by authorities.
