The Trump administration reportedly offered a 15-point ceasefire plan to Iran, even as the U.S. military prepared to send at least 1,000 additional troops to supplement roughly 50,000 already deployed in the Middle East.
The plan was reportedly submitted to Tehran through intermediaries from Pakistan, who have offered to host renewed negotiations between Washington and Iran.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon is deploying two Marine units that will add about 5,000 Marines and thousands of sailors to the region. The moves are seen as giving former President Donald Trump “maximum flexibility” in determining his next steps. Israeli officials, who had been urging Trump to continue a hardline approach against Iran, were reportedly surprised by the ceasefire submission.
Amid these developments, Iran’s top military leadership has strongly rejected claims of negotiations with the Trump administration. Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Zulfaghari Military Headquarters of the Khatam al-Anbiya, issued a stern warning to Washington.
“Has internal division in the United States reached the point where it is negotiating with itself?” Zulfaghari asked, according to Iran’s Fars News Agency. He added that the U.S. should not label its internal failures as an agreement.
The spokesperson emphasized that oil prices and regional stability will not return to previous levels unless Iran’s interests are fully respected. He warned that any plans for action against Iran must be completely abandoned.
Zulfaghari reiterated Iran’s longstanding stance toward the U.S., saying, “Our position has always been clear and will remain so: Iran will not seek compromise with America under any circumstances. People like us will never align with people like you — not now, not ever.”
The statement comes amid conflicting reports about possible U.S.-Iran talks and ongoing tensions across the Middle East, underscoring Tehran’s hardline approach and signaling that any diplomatic engagement with Washington faces significant obstacles.
