The Pakistani rupee (PKR) continued its upward trend on Thursday, posting gains against major global currencies while extending its winning streak against the US dollar to 123 consecutive sessions.

The local currency closed at 279.25 per US dollar, strengthening by one paisa in the latest trading session.

The rupee also recorded notable gains against other major currencies. It appreciated by Rs. 2.76 against the British pound and Rs. 2.14 against the euro. Additional gains were seen against the Australian dollar, rising by Rs. 2.40, and the Canadian dollar, gaining 46 paisas.

However, the rupee slipped slightly against some Gulf currencies, closing marginally weaker against the UAE dirham, while posting a small gain against the Saudi riyal.

Overall, the rupee showed broad-based stability and strength against most major currencies during the session, reflecting continued positive momentum in the foreign exchange market.
