The Pakistani rupee (PKR) continued its upward momentum on Thursday, closing higher against the US Dollar (USD) for the 118th consecutive day.

The local currency also posted gains against most other major currencies during the session. The PKR ended at 279.32 per USD, improving by three paisas from the previous day.

Traders attributed the recovery to easing concerns over regional tensions. The federal government has reassured that the Gulf situation is unlikely to have a long-term impact on the domestic economy. Additional dollar inflows, along with expected remittances ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, are also providing support to the market.

Performance Against Other Currencies
The PKR strengthened slightly against the British Pound (GBP) by four paisas and gained Rs. 1.80 against the Euro (EUR). It rose 66 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD) and 29 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD).

While the rupee closed in green against the UAE Dirham (AED), it dipped marginally against the Saudi Riyal (SAR).
