Mari Energies Limited (PSX: MARI) has announced a significant gas discovery at its Soho-1 exploratory well located in the Sujawal Block, Sujawal District, Sindh Province, according to a stock exchange filing on Friday.

Testing of the Lower Goru (Massive Sand) Formation at Soho-1 revealed promising flow rates, with a choke size of 64/64″ producing 30.01 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas at a wellhead flowing pressure of 1,482.5 psig. At a reduced choke size of 32/64″, the well produced 18.84 MMSCFD at 3,447.8 psig.

Further testing of additional targeted formations is ongoing to fully assess the well’s potential.

This discovery marks the first gas find in the Lower Goru (Massive Sand) formation within the Sujawal Block, opening new exploration opportunities in the region after several previous unsuccessful attempts.

Mari Energies operates the Sujawal Block with a 100 percent working interest.
