Pakistan has permitted 150 Afghan trucks to cross into India through the Wagah Border on Thursday, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As reported by Dawn, the Afghan embassy in Islamabad requested clearance for stranded containers on April 28. In response, Pakistan approved transit for trucks that had entered the country before April 25.

A list of 150 trucks provided by the Afghan embassy has been forwarded to the relevant Pakistani authorities for processing.

This limited transit permission comes after Pakistan suspended all trade with India, including transit trade, on April 24 following a National Security Committee meeting. The suspension was triggered by New Delhi’s allegations linking Pakistan to a deadly attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir.

Trade relations between Pakistan and India have been frozen since February 2019, when India imposed tariffs on Pakistani goods following the Pulwama attack. Pakistan formally canceled all trade activities in August 2019 after India revoked Article 370, stripping Kashmir of its special status.
