The Ministry of Communications has revealed that the Pakistan Post Office Department does not maintain a database of courier companies operating in the country, leaving the sector without formal regulatory oversight. This information was shared in a written reply submitted to the National Assembly.
According to the ministry, courier and logistics companies in Pakistan are functioning independently, as no dedicated regulatory authority exists to govern their operations. This lack of oversight allows companies to set their own delivery charges for letters and parcels based on internal pricing structures and policies, with no standardization or government checks in place.
The absence of regulation raises critical concerns about consumer protection, pricing transparency, and service standards in Pakistan’s rapidly growing logistics and courier sector. With no formal framework to monitor these companies, customers are left vulnerable to inconsistent pricing and varying service quality.
