The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has predicted that Eid ul-Fitr will likely be celebrated on March 31, 2025, following the expected sighting of the Shawwal moon on March 30.

According to astronomical calculations released by SUPARCO, the new moon of Shawwal will be born on March 29 at 3:58 PM Pakistan Standard Time. By sunset on March 30, the moon will be approximately 27 hours old and positioned about 16 degrees away from the sun with an altitude of roughly 14 degrees.

These favorable conditions suggest a high probability of the crescent being visible across Pakistan on the evening of March 30, which would mark the end of Ramadan after 29 days of fasting.

The space agency noted that Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries are also expected to sight the crescent on the same day, potentially aligning Eid celebrations across much of the Muslim world.

SUPARCO emphasized that while scientific calculations provide strong indicators, the official announcement will come from the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which bases its decision on verified moon sighting testimonies from across the country.
