Remittances from overseas Pakistanis substantially increased in February 2025, rising by 55 percent year-on-year to reach $3.1 billion, according to the latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The February figures represent a significant improvement compared to the $2.3 billion received during the same month last year. On a month-on-month basis, remittances also showed positive momentum, increasing by 4 percent from the $3.0 billion recorded in January 2025.

Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances, contributing $744 million to the total inflows. The United Arab Emirates followed closely with $652 million, while the United Kingdom sent $501 million. European Union countries collectively remitted $340 million, and the United States contributed $309 million.

The upward trend is even more pronounced when looking at the cumulative figures for the first eight months of the fiscal year 2025. During this period, total remittances reached $24 billion, marking a 32 percent increase compared to the $18.3 billion received during the same period in fiscal year 2024.
