The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has begun the process of extraditing property tycoon Malik Riaz and his son, Ali Malik, from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) under international anti-money laundering laws and the Vienna Convention, according to media reports.
NAB has formally approached UAE authorities to facilitate the extradition of Malik Riaz, who reportedly resides in Dubai to avoid legal proceedings in Pakistan. The property tycoon, known for his influence, is facing allegations of corruption and financial misconduct linked to his real estate ventures.
Earlier this month, NAB issued a public warning against investing in Bahria Town Dubai, a UAE-based real estate project launched by Malik Riaz in partnership with the Dhabi Group in 2018. The $20 billion project aimed to develop a luxury community with residential, commercial, and entertainment facilities. Despite its ambitious goals, NAB has accused Bahria Town of illegally acquiring public and private land for its housing projects in Pakistan.
