Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain chaired a meeting of the Fertilizer Review Committee to assess the stock position of DAP and Urea fertilizers for the upcoming Rabi season. The committee expressed complete satisfaction with the current fertilizer stock in the country, stating that there is no shortage of DAP and Urea fertilizers.
According to the committee, the demand for DAP fertilizer is increasing in the country, with a 44% increase in DAP off-take. This increase in demand is attributed to the Kisan Card scheme launched by the Punjab government. Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain assured that additional fertilizer stock is available to meet the requirements of farmers.
The minister emphasized the importance of proper use of DAP fertilizer during the Rabi season to achieve higher yields. He also highlighted the government’s commitment to the welfare of farmers, stating that their prosperity is essential for the country’s development. Minister Hussain warned that provinces will take strict action against hoarding and price manipulation of fertilizers.
The Fertilizer Review Committee’s assessment provides a positive outlook for the agricultural sector in the upcoming Rabi season. With sufficient fertilizer stock available, farmers are expected to achieve higher yields, contributing to the country’s food security and economic growth.
