The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) recorded its highest monthly gain in nearly a year, with the benchmark KSE-100 index surging by an impressive 7,853 points in October 2024. This marks a 9.7 percent increase on a month-on-month basis, the largest gain in 2024, according to data from brokerage firm Arif Habib Limited (AHL).

This significant rise is the highest month-on-month increase since November 2023, when the KSE-100 index experienced a 16.6 percent surge. AHL’s data reveals a fluctuating performance throughout the year, with the index initially declining by 0.8 percent in January. However, it rebounded with gains of 4.2 percent in February and 3.8 percent in March.

The upward trend continued with a 6.1 percent increase in April, followed by a 6.7 percent rise in May and a 3.4 percent gain in June. The index faced a slight setback in July, dropping by 0.7 percent, but recovered with a 0.8 percent increase in August and a 3.3 percent rise in September.

The remarkable 9.7 percent growth in October represents the best performance of the year, highlighting a strong recovery and investor confidence in the market.
