The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtayev, announced on Thursday that direct flights between Lahore and Tashkent will commence next month. The announcement was made during a meeting with Senator Irfanul Haque Siddiqui, chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, at his office in Islamabad.

Senator Siddiqui warmly welcomed the newly appointed ambassador and expressed his best wishes for Tukhtayev’s tenure in Pakistan. He expressed optimism that the ambassador’s efforts would strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

During the meeting, the Uzbek envoy shared plans for the upcoming direct flights and hinted at the possibility of extending the service to other major cities in Pakistan. He stated that the initiative aims to enhance connectivity between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, facilitating trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

Senator Siddiqui praised the launch of the Lahore-Tashkent flight route, describing it as a significant step towards bolstering friendly ties between the two nations. He emphasized that increased connectivity would unlock numerous opportunities for trade and cultural exchanges. “Both countries have vast potential in trade and cultural collaboration, and this initiative will allow us to explore and capitalize on these opportunities,” he said.

Additionally, the Uzbek ambassador invited Senator Siddiqui and a delegation of Pakistani senators to observe the upcoming elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis in Uzbekistan on October 27. Senator Siddiqui expressed gratitude to the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan for the invitation, highlighting the importance of witnessing this significant democratic process.
