The Government of Punjab has finalized arrangements to induce artificial rain as a measure to address the escalating smog problem. Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb announced the initiative, highlighting the urgency of tackling smog as the winter season approaches.

Under the directive of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, resources have been allocated for artificial rain and other related measures. Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that each session of artificial rain is estimated to cost between Rs. 5 to 7 million and will be conducted with the assistance of the Meteorological Department, adhering to international standards.

The minister called on the public to support and participate in this collective effort to effectively mitigate the smog issue. This initiative follows a previous test conducted by the Punjab government on December 16, 2023, which involved cloud-seeding over a limited area in Lahore to reduce smog levels.
