In an informal conversation with the media, the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Rashid Langrial, shared significant updates on income tax filings and upcoming enforcement actions. Chairman Langrial announced that the number of income tax returns filed has exceeded 4 million, nearly doubling from the previous year.
He stated that there would be no extension in the deadline for filing income tax returns.
Starting in November, the FBR will launch extensive actions against non-filers. Chairman Langrial assured that comprehensive data on non-filers is already available, enabling targeted enforcement.
He also conveyed the Prime Minister’s directive to take strict action against tax evaders, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing tax compliance and accountability.
