The federal government has announced a three-day “closed holiday” in Islamabad and Rawalpindi from October 14 to 16, 2024, to facilitate the smooth conduct of the 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government meeting scheduled for later this month.

According to an official notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Monday, Prime Minister has approved the closure of offices and educational institutions within the territorial limits of the Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. This decision aims to ensure the seamless organization and security of the high-profile international event.

The SCO summit is expected to bring together leaders and delegates from member countries, necessitating enhanced security and logistical arrangements in the host city.
