The National Highways Authority (NHA) has announced a substantial increase in toll taxes for vehicles traveling on Pakistan’s highways and motorways, effective October 1, 2024.

Under the new rates, motorists on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M1) will experience notable hikes. The toll for cars will rise from Rs. 350 to Rs. 460. Wagons will now incur a charge of Rs. 720, up from Rs. 550, while buses will see an increase from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1,300. Truck drivers will face a toll jump from Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 1,950.

These toll hikes extend to several other major routes, including the Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M3), Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad-Multan Motorway (M4), Multan-Sukkur Motorway (M5), D.I. Khan-Hakla Motorway (M14), and the Mansehra Expressway.

On national highways, the toll for cars will increase from Rs. 40 to Rs. 50. Wagons will be charged Rs. 90, and buses will face a new rate of Rs. 170. For 2 and 3-axle trucks, the toll will be Rs. 210, while articulated trucks will be charged Rs. 460.

Additionally, tolls have been raised at key locations such as the Kohat Tunnel (N55), Islamabad-Murree-Kohala Highway (N75), and Mianwali Toll Plaza (N135), resulting in higher charges for commuters across these routes.

    • Cars: Rs. 460
    • Wagons up to 12 seaters: Rs. 510
    • Buses: Rs. 910
    • Articulated Trucks: Rs. 1,950
  2. M-3 (Lahore-Abdul Hakeem):
    • Cars: Rs. 500
    • Wagons up to 12 seaters: Rs. 580
    • Buses: Rs. 1,370
    • Articulated Trucks: Rs. 3,250
  3. M-4 (Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad-Multan):
    • Cars: Rs. 500
    • Wagons up to 12 seaters: Rs. 580
    • Buses: Rs. 1,370
    • Articulated Trucks: Rs. 3,250
  4. M-5 (Multan-Sukkur):
    • Cars: Rs. 500
    • Wagons up to 12 seaters: Rs. 580
    • Buses: Rs. 1,370
    • Articulated Trucks: Rs. 5,270
  5. M-14 (D.I. Khan – Hakla):
    • Cars: Rs. 500
    • Wagons up to 12 seaters: Rs. 580
    • Buses: Rs. 1,370
    • Articulated Trucks: Rs. 3,250
  6. E-35 (Hassanabdal-Havelian-Manshera Expressway):
    • Cars: Rs. 500
    • Wagons up to 12 seaters: Rs. 580
    • Buses: Rs. 1,370
    • Articulated Trucks: Rs. 3,250

The NHA emphasizes that these revisions are crucial for the upkeep and enhancement of the road network, ensuring safer and more efficient travel for all road users. The public is encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and be aware of the new toll rates.
