Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim showed the initial results from a 5G network test, offering an early look at the performance Pakistan could expect as the country moves toward next-generation mobile connectivity.

In a post shared on X, Ibrahim posted a screenshot of a mobile speed test showing a smartphone connected to a 5G signal with download speeds reaching approximately 1,400 Mbps. The image indicates that the test may have been conducted in the F-7 sector of Islamabad, suggesting that preliminary network trials are already underway following the country’s recent spectrum auction.

The speed test highlights the potential improvements expected from 5G technology, including significantly faster data speeds, reduced latency, and more reliable connectivity. These capabilities are expected to support data-intensive services such as ultra-high-definition streaming, cloud gaming, and real-time digital applications on mobile devices.

The development follows Pakistan’s latest spectrum auction, through which new frequency bands were allocated to telecom operators to support both expanded 4G services and the eventual rollout of 5G networks.

Notably, Jazz secured the largest share of spectrum in the auction, acquiring 190 MHz across four newly introduced frequency bands. The additional spectrum is expected to enhance network capacity and play a key role in enabling the country’s transition to next-generation mobile services.

Although telecom operators have yet to announce a firm timeline for commercial 5G launches, the early testing indicates that preparations for deploying 5G infrastructure in Pakistan are already progressing.
